58-pound grass carp snagged floating on a rock in Lake Huron

Two days ago, Richard Elliott snagged a 58-pound grass carp floating on a rock in Lake Huron near the the Bruce Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, Canada.

He said he was fishing “with a buddy’s wife.”

A grass carp is not the same as a bighead carp.

The bighead variety is a danger to Lake Erie’s fishing industries, not a grass carp, because they are bottom feeders that wipe out plankton, the food chain for other freshwater fish

The video at the end of the story confused the two species of carp.
