What is a video “gaming disorder”.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is:

“a clinically recognizable and clinically significant syndrome, when the pattern of gaming behavior is of such a nature and intensity that it results in marked distress or significant impairment in personal, family, social, educational or occupational functioning.”

But so far, no one knows how to treat it.

Or pay for it.

ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes are used by doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers so they can get paid.

ICD codes are used to classify and code all diagnoses, symptoms, and procedures.

Healthcare benefits cannot be paid if an ICD code is:

  • missing

  • nonexistent

  • incorrect

  • falsified

In the U.S., ICD codes are marked with a “10” (ICD-10).

International ICD codes have an eleven (ICD-11).
