Politics in Chicago, CLE, sabotage new NFL stadiums

In Chicago, property taxes torpedo their new professional football stadium.

In Cleveland, a denied airport building permit has sabotaged their new domed stadium project.

Their plans are 58 feet too high for airplanes to fly over the proposed dome safely.

The stadium must be dug below ground, allowing airplanes to fly safely overhead.

Also, the proposed site is next to railroad tracks across from Hopkins Airport.

So far, no one has mentioned how railroad traffic will stop traffic and create traffic jams going to and from football games, as well as other non-sport events and attractions.

How much will it cost to reroute the tracks?

Then there are environmental concerns.

The Cleveland Stadium is on property where Ford Motor used to build its V-8 engines.

What is the cost for the environmental clean-up?

How will the Bears and Browns circumvent politics so that team owners can maximize profits by:

  • paying little or no real estate taxes

  • collecting more tax money to pay project costs?
