Congress votes today to reverse 1993 law granting voting rights to non-citizens

After 21 years, Congress is voting this afternoon on whether to reverse a May 20th, 1993 law.

It grants:

  • non-citizens voting rights in federal, state, and local elections, and

  • prevents states from deleting non-citizens from their voting rolls.

The bill, if passed by the House and Senate, will be vetoed by Joe Biden.

His official position in favor of maintaining voting rights for non-citizens was released yesterday.
