NASA funding bill morphed into a federal takeover of elections

Why else would the bill called H.R. 5746 have 720 pages?

It was supposed to be about reauthorizing money for NASA’s Space Programs.

Instead, upon passage, the bill turns over control of local and state elections to the federal government.

The bill has already passed the House and Senate.

The matter is being reconciled now so it can go to the President for signature.

Key provisions of the bill:

  • Justice Department approval to change any state or local election laws

  • grants voting rights to 5.2 million convicted felons

  • allows other people to fill out and return their ballots

  • outlaws anyone from challenging a ballot unless they are an election official selected by local party political hacks

  • mandates phony contested ballots be counted anyway

  • extends mail-in ballots to be received seven days after polls close on election day

  • mandates mail-in ballots are sent without postage, bar codes, or identification

  • turns election day into a paid holiday

  • leaves dead people on the voter rolls along with people who have moved out the district

Who wrote this bill?

Did anyone in Congress read it?

The main role of Congress is to get re-elected.

This law tries to guarantee it.

Up until a member dies while holding office.
