Court delays Tina Peters’ bond hearing indefinitely

The Colorado Appeals Court has delayed Tina Peters’ bond appeal hearing indefinitely.

She is in Mesa County Jail after being sentenced to nine years for various election-related issues.

It is court policy to schedule a hearing date within 14 days of an appeal filing.

Instead, Tina’s appeal will be delayed until next year.

The court has no hearings scheduled for the rest of the year, according to its official court record linked here:

During her trial, Tina was free on a $25,000 bond.

After the trial, Judge Matthew Barrett called for her immediate incarceration.

He called Tina a:

  • danger to the community

  • flight risk

  • without citing examples of misconduct

However, Peters attended every court hearing 31 months before her trial.

Barrett disallowed any evidence that would prove her innocence.

That evidence would have included the Colorado Secretary of State's admission that voting machine passwords appeared on the state's website for 60 days before the Nov. 5th Election.

Excluded evidence also included emails by key Dominion voting machine executives.

They admitted their systems were faulty and could not be fixed until after the Election.

Is Colorado’s nine-year sentence for Peters cruel and unusual punishment a violation of the Eighth and 14th Amendments?

Does Tina’s punishment fit the crime?
