Trump to block Senate recess until it votes on SAVE Act

President Donald J. Trump will block the Senate from taking a three-week vacation or recess.

Why?

To vote on voter ID, also known as the SAVE Act.

Trump plans to block a Senate recess until its members vote on it.

It has already passed the House on April 10th at 11:23 a.m.

It has to be passed by the Senate and signed by the President to become law.

Trump has the power under Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution.

The President “may on . . . :

“. . . extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them ...”

By forcing a Senate vote, the ones voting against it will be blamed for failing to pass it.

Also, some of the Senators voting for it may never win re-election.

Why?

Because an honest election makes it hard for many to win.

After all, 95% of them get re-elected.

• 28 special sessions of the full Congress (both House and Senate) and

• 46 special sessions of the Senate alone.

Harry Truman was the last President to recall both Houses of Congress for a special session.

As a result, he was elected President.
