Based in Geneva, Switzerland, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the United Nations (UN).

An Intellectual Property (IP) Treaty, according to the UN, includes:

  • patents

  • data and digital assets

  • copyrights

  • trade secrets

  • trademarks

  • designs

  • patterns

  • surveillance, space, and defense technologies

  • anything on the internet
