Eight states will decide control of the Senate
“We (the Democrats) are going to take back the Senate.”
As of yesterday, according to the Cook Report, a political polling service, these are the key races that will determine which political party will control the U.S. Senate:
Arkansas
Georgia
Iowa
Maine
New Hampshire
North Carolina
Ohio
Texas

According to Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Democrats have to win four of them to regain control of the U.S. Senate, and, with it, control over who is appointed to the federal judiciary.
Schumer is the former Senate Majority Leader.
As of Aug. 13th, however, according to the same Cook Report, Democrats will lose control of the House of Representatives.

From 1984-2010, the Cook Report was 95% accurate in predicting Congressional races before Labor Day.
